Mechanical Lead (Hydraulics & Mechanical Technicians), Malta & France
Our partner has experience of almost 40 years in marine industry. We are now looking for our collaboration partner a highly motivated, responsible and experienced Mechanical Lead (Hydraulics & Mechanical Technicians.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
Lead and supervise a team of mechanical and hydraulic technicians.
Coordinate daily job assignments and ensure timely project execution.
Conduct technical assessments and quality control of completed works.
Technical Execution
Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic and mechanical systems on marine vessels and industrial equipment.
Diagnose system faults and perform root cause analysis.
Work with equipment such as pumps, motors, actuators, gearboxes, and control systems.
Client & Project Interface
Liaise with project engineers, client representatives, and classification societies.
Support preparation of job scopes, technical documentation, and progress reports.
Ensure full compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
Training & Development
Support the upskilling of junior technicians through on-the-job training.
Maintain technical documentation and encourage knowledge sharing.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Degree preferred).
Minimum 5 years in a senior technician or supervisory role.
Proven hands-on experience in hydraulic and mechanical systems.
Experience in marine, shipyard, or industrial environments required.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work scopes.
Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills
Desirable Skills
Familiarity with marine classification societies (e.g., DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s).
Experience with hydraulic systems troubleshooting (e.g., steering gear, winches, cranes).
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Fluent in English; Maltese or other EU languages a plus.
